SciSummary is a cutting-edge AI-driven summarization tool designed to make digesting scientific articles easier. It enables users to quickly and accurately understand complex scientific articles without having to read the full text.

To use the service, users can email a text, a link, or even attach a PDF and within minutes they will receive a summary in their inbox. The service is powered by a custom-tuned GPT-3 model that learns as it goes, with a team of PhDs analyzing requested summaries and guiding the training of the model.

It is currently in a public beta, and users are encouraged to rate their summaries. SciSummary was founded in 2023 with the mission of making digesting scientific articles easier.

SciSummary now includes a new design, optimizing for easy navigation and reading of papers and summaries. We also added the following features:

We also fixed the following bugs:

Fix the smart citation spinner when there’s only one paragraph

Folders aren't loading on initial page load

Max height for summaries cuts them off for users who don’t have subscriptions

Smart citations in other languages

When a new message arrives scroll to the top of the new message

Hide large buttons when doing multi article summaries in new ui

Disable start summarizing button until user adds articles on multi-article uploads

Side bar not sitting flush to the left side of the page

When generating smart citations check the text to see if it looks like a header before adding them

On mobile, banners make the header sticky with a gap.

When you get an error message with no recommendations then we should call out that there’s no DOI

Only show length for non key points style summaries

Make it so the citation can stay sticky and copy it

If single article is selected, give the option to edit it in the more actions field

Make it so smart citations assign different colors to numbers

Adding a folder should automatically expand the library menu

Chat with folder should immediately take you to the chat, don’t show the modal
Multi-line citations are broken

Show fewer words when summarizing by section, really highlight that they are PER SECTION

Everyone is looking to AI for answers. But with Recall, you can prioritize your own knowledge first and foremost. Choose to chat with your saved insights and invite the internet in as a supplement. That's the priority order we believe it should follow.

This update lets you get answers that no other AI can provide, as it is grounded in the sources you intentionally chose to save and the notes you specifically took. Ask questions, and Recall pulls from your curated knowledge base.

Agentic Chat: You Control the Conversation

Choose to chat with your own knowledge base, the internet, or both.

Pick from frontier AI models like GPT 5.4, Claude, Gemini (on the max plan)

Ask powerful, open-ended questions across your knowledge:
"Condense all my research from the last month"
"Now enrich it with the latest studies"
"Find the exact clip where this was mentioned"
Play content directly inside Recall, upload files and images.

Major backend upgrades deliver significant performance improvements, especially on mobile
Now supporting X and Reddit imports to capture insights from more sources

Introducing Recall Max
For power users ready to push the boundaries of personal knowledge management, we now offer Recall Max:
Access frontier language models like GPT-5.4, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, and Gemini.
Unlock bulk ai actions : multi-file summarization, bulk tagging, bulk connections and batch PDF uploads

Recall is now one place for all your knowledge, including your personal notes.

We started Recall with a focus on the content you consume: summarizing, saving, and organizing organizing YouTube videos, podcasts, TikToks, articles and PDFs.

Now we're expanding to the content you create. While you've always been able to take notes in Recall's notebook tab, the editor was basic.

We just launched a new block-style editor to create notes directly in Recall. Meeting notes with dynamic tables. Study notes with equations and code blocks. Daily journals with to-do lists.

Everything in one place with AI that understands it all.

Go beyond your brain’s limits. Chat with all the content you read, watch, listen to, or take notes on. Add any online content on the go or import thousands of videos, podcasts, and more - all saved to your self-organizing knowledge base. Your memory, searchable forever.

Why this is a big deal for Recall and a step forward for knowledge management:

Save time: No more digging through scattered notes. Get instant answers with sources referenced. This is what knowledge management has always needed. When you’ve spent hours saving, curating, and categorizing content, being able to access it when you need to is critical.

Think deeper: Our memory is capped, and that’s not a flaw, it’s by design. This lets us go beyond what we can store in our heads. Spot connections you’d otherwise miss. Synthesize information we could never manage alone. This is why we have AI in the first place.

Peace of mind: You know that feeling when you hear a great stat, quote, or tip you never want to forget… so you leave a tab open or drop it into Apple Notes—only to lose it three months later. Now, you can simply save it to Recall. Your memory, backed up and searchable forever.

Thank you so much for being part of this journey. While we still have a long way to go, with hundreds of requests still on our roadmap, today marks a huge step forward for Recall.

1 Chat with your content

Ask questions and get insights based on your source content.

2 Augmented browsing

Surfacing related content from your knowledge base as you browse, enhancing learning and research.
Note: This is off by default; you can enable it in your settings.

3 Store full content

Use Recall as your go-to “read-it-later” app. Save entire pages and transcripts.

4 UI improvements

Multiple enhancements, including merging summaries into a single card. The Notebook is now where you can save summaries and chat outputs for editing and customization.

It's a whole new experience.

Fully Editable Browser Extension - We've revamped the browser extension to make your workflow smoother. Now you can easily customize the summary by adding your own notes directly in the extension which is automatically synced with your knowledge-base.

Summary Length Options - A major upgrade to the quality of summaries! You can now choose between concise or detailed summaries, giving you more control over the information you receive.

Expanded Content Support- We're now supporting even more content types: YouTube videos up to 10 hours long (with transcripts), Articles, blogs, and 300+ page PDFs, Google Docs. Plus, we're continuously adding more content types!

Quality of Life Improvements - We've introduced over a hundred small but impactful updates, including: Grid/List Toggle view, Bulk delete functionality, Multiple sorting options and much much more. These enhancements are designed to make your experience even more efficient and user-friendly.

Mobile App Updates - While the mobile app is still in beta, we've made significant improvements in speed and reliability, and tweaked the user interface for a smoother experience.
